Author: Mike Mullin
The library welcomed children’s book author Mike Mullin. His recent novel, "Ashfall” is an adventure tale for kids ages 12 and up about a boy dealing with the eruption of a super-volcano near his home town. Many visitors to Yellowstone National Park don't realize that the boiling hot springs and spraying geysers are caused by an underlying super-volcano. It has erupted three times in the last 2.1 million years, and it will erupt again, changing the Earth forever.
In Mullin’s book, fifteen-year-old Alex is home alone when the super-volcano erupts. His town collapses into a nightmare of darkness, ash, and violence, forcing him to flee. He begins a harrowing trek in search of his parents and sister, who were visiting relatives miles away. With nonstop action, a little romance, and realistic science, Mullin tells a mesmerizing story.
About the author: Mike Mullin’s career path has been quite diverse, including Congressional Page, brand management, and a variety of jobs at Kids Ink Children’s Bookstore. Since elementary school, Mike has been writing nonstop. Mike also holds a black belt in Songahm Taekwondo.
