Hollyhock Thrift Shop

Thrift Shop News

There is something for everyone at the Thrift Shop.
Regular hours are Tuesdays, 9AM to 1PM and Saturdays, 9AM to 12 noon.

The Thrift Shop cannot accept furniture, utensils, books (but the library may be interested in them), or knick-knacks.  There just isn’t space for anything except good, clean clothing for men, women and children.  All such donations are gratefully received.

If you would like to help out by volunteering in the Thrift Shop please call Elaine David at the library (329-6411) on Monday evenings.

You may bring your donations to the shop during its regular open hours, Tuesdays from 9AM to 1PM. and Saturdays from 9AM to 12 Noon, or bring them to the front desk of the library if you can't make it when the Thrift Shop is open for business. If you've never visited the Hollyhock Thrift Shop you're in for a surprise as you check out the very high quality of clothing in stock.

The Hollyhock Thrift Shop is now located in the basement of the Hampstead Public Library and is open all year. The Thrift Shop features good quality, clean, gently used seasonal clothing for men, women and children.

It is one of the primary fund raising efforts of the Friends of the Hampstead Public Library. The proceeds are used to support library programs and to help finance library purchases that are not covered in the budget. The Friends present monthly programs from September through April at the library. They help fund special events for the Summer Reading Program along with CHILIS, and the Greater Hampstead Civic Club. Over the years they have also helped fund some of the library's popular museum passes.

In addition to the Thrift Shop, the Friends run the annual Holiday Auction in November, the other major fund raiser for the organization. They also sell book bags with a picture of the Story Garden, created by the Hampstead Garden Club, on the front.

If you're not already a member of the Friends of the Hampstead Public Library, pick up a brochure and membership form at the front desk and help the Friends support the library and provide services to the community by joining. There are several levels of membership and businesses as well as individuals and families are welcome as members.
